Make a Monkey Out of You

Some people are at a standstill in life because of their fear of failure. Sure, they have a vision— a dream in their heart. But they are afraid to take the next step for fear that it might not work out.

Is this you?

  • You have vision for a successful business. You’ve got these great ideas, but you’re consumed with thoughts of “what if it tanks? What if the financing doesn’t come through?”
  • You have this great desire to be in a healthy relationship—but you’re afraid because you’ve been burnt in the past.
  • You have a desire to get involved in a ministry at your church. You think to yourself, “I’d be good at that. I’d like to serve in that area. But do I really know enough? What if I don’t and I fail?

As the illustration in the video above teaches, Don’t let fear make a monkey out of you.

  1. Great piece of wisdom. This is so true for many who have so much potential, but never seize opportunity. Thanks for sharing this insight.

  2. This story is so true. In my experience, it’s the ones who preach that we should follow our dreams who pull against me the hardest when I actually try.

  3. I have been guilty of being like the monkey sometimes. I have a win win spirit. If I think ” No way that’s gonna work”, I usually don’t try it. However, If I have never been told the rules and know what I want I go after it. If I get “hosed down” I try it from a different angle.

  4. Keith, I totally agree with you. We are told to try, however, when we do we are pulled back by those who have encouraged us to try. Sounds good in a motivational speech, but when it comes to application….well…”not right now” they say.
