Your Celebrity Crushes?

Celebrity Crush - Refreshingly Dreamy

Without further ado, here’s my short list of celebrity crushes.

  1. Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years – The show was popular when I was a boy. Kevin, played by Fred Savage, was about my age and I imagined myself as his character. My underdeveloped heart pounded inside my chest the first time he leaned in to kiss Winnie, my boyhood crush.
  2. Meg Ryan – I crushed on Meg for a number of years. From her spunky and fun-loving personality in Top Gun to the way she cared for Nicholas Cage in City of Angels, I was definitely a fan.
  3. Rachel Green from Friends – Rachel’s (Jennifer Aniston) adorable charm and somewhat ditzy personality drew me in. Plus, I’m a sucker for great hair and a beautiful smile.
  4. Laura Bush – Hey, why not? She’s classy and has supported her husband through some tough times. That’s crush worthy in my book. I’ve told my wife on a number of occasions that she’s my Laura.
  5. Pam Beesly from The Office – Pam (Jenna Fischer) is my current crush. My wife and I absolutely love the relationship between Jim and Pam. So, we crush on them as a couple. Anytime they kiss we look at each other and cheesily say “Awww.”

NOTE: Most of my crushes have been on the person’s fictional personality rather than her real life character.

YOUR TURN: Who have been your celebrity crushes? Have you crushed on a movie star, a rock star, or perhaps someone in politics? Tell us about it.

PS. Keep it dreamy and not steamy.

  1. My first celeb-crush was Rick Springfield. I think I was 13 when I met him…he was 23 and still had long hair and an australian accent. I ended up working with him for awhile, but don’t think I ever told him that little tidbit of info…haha.

  2. Angela Bennett and Ellen Roark both played by Sandra Bullock in The Net and A Time To Kill (respectively). The innocent person who decides to take a stand for what is right.

Ilsa Lund played by Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca, all I can say is WOW! and of course Holly Golightly played by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Actresses from that day and age were majorly different in which it wasn’t the scantily clad heroins that we see today but ones that had style, class and spunk.

    Good stuff.

  3. Natalie Portman in Garden State. Love her quirkiness in that film.

  4. I did (and still do) have a major crush on Alyssa Milano.

I’m right there with you on Meg Ryan also. Honorable mention goes to Sandra Bullock and Cameron Diaz for the movie category.

Another big one for me is Shania Twain. Other singers would be Jennifer Nettles (Sugarland) and Carrie Underwood.

  5. Sarah Michelle Gellar / Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I think in this case it’s like you said Daniel, the crush is probably more on the fictional character than the real life person.
Danica Patrick – nothing like an attractive woman who is good at what she does and could also kick your a** all over the place!

  6. For the longest time, Val Kilmer..mostly as Iceman…then as that blind masseuse guy…Then as The Saint. Sigh.

More recently, Owen Wilson. Funny, smart, (co)writes good films, Texan, a little mischievous yet charming at the same time…at least most the characters he plays are, I obviously don’t have any clue as to “real life”….

Too many to count, but mostly Johnny Depp. Very devoted to his family.
Hmmm, I watch too much tv to pinpoint a character I love.

    • I knew it wouldn’t take long before someone raved about Johnny Depp.

Now I’m just wondering when the 1st New Kids on the Block fan will speak up.

      • Jessica(nu2htown) Mar 05, 2010 at 12:08 pm

Still have a couple of their songs on my ipod. Because they tell me I have the Right Stuff. How can I argue with them?

  8. Nice Subjective… well, lets see..
RACHEL GREEN (classic, who never ever had a crush on her?), JENNIFER LOPES (I saw one Loreal commercial about 10 years ago and it was the first time that i saw her, love in a first sight ehhe) JENNA USHKOWITZ(Tina, from Glee, that is a great example to exprees my crush on asian woman)and another example about crush on asian woman is my current crush.. she is kind famous..not a hollywood kind of celebrity but still.. MELISSA POLINAR, independent singer, she is great, beautiful, awesome singer, musician and songwriter.. I think that’s all that I remember hehehe

Now that I think about it: Jeremy Camp. Wow. Love his heart. Bart Millard. He is the Mayor of Awesometown (to quote him).

  10. Bette Midler in the 70′s, “The Rose” years.

  11. Leonardo DiCaprio-won me over in Titanic (of course!) and then I saw how awesome he was in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. His talent is what keeps the crush going.

Johnny Depp-he’s the only guy I know of that can wear dreadlocks, make-up, look dirty and still look attractive! haha…he also chooses really fascinating characters, and I like how he keeps his personal life private.

Matthew McConaughey-he was awesome in A Time To Kill as well as How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days and Fool’s Gold. His characters are almost always so goofy and charming.

    • While I dont have a crush on him ;-) , Johnny Depp definitely plays some interesting characters. I like that.

Don’t get my wife started on Matthew McConaughey. That’s her crush. Well, him and Jim (see above).

  12. In second grade I thought I would grow up and marry Susie Chapstick. In junior high and high school one of my crushes was Katarina Witt.

  13. Yeah so it’s Friday afternoon and I thought of a few more.

Kiefer Sutherland’s character on Young Guns…

and Eric Stolz’s character in Memphis Belle.

  14. So for me it’s:

-Rachel McAdams- I kind of like her character in any movie (i.e. State of Play)-great actress too.

-Mila Kunis, especially in Book of Eli-something about her lol.

-Beyonce just because she’s unstoppable haha.

  15. DM, your list is really good. Here’s one that started from a commercial of all things — Jill Wagner, The Mercury Girl (also now of Wipeout fame).

Also, how about Charlize Theron in Bagger Vance — I described her as “dreamy” in that movie, in fact.

Here’s a throwback dreamy: Donna Reed in Wonderful Life (no I’m not THAT old, but still…)

I’ll be thinking of more all night now…lol (blush)

  16. Ok.. Crushes in no randome Order.

Sandra Bullock. She just seems so down to earth very cool personality.

Julia Roberts. That was my orginal standard of what I was looking for a girlfriend..mainly becasue she was tall.

  17. Bruce Marchiano :)

  18. Oh wow, I forgot to add Laura Petrie on the Dick Van Dyke show!

  19. Michelle Pfeiffer in One Fine Day, Meg Ryan in whatever movie she’s in, and Keri Russell in Felicity. Word.

  20. As a very young elementary age girl: SHAUN CASSIDY from the Hardy Boys. LOL! (am I dating myself?? ugh!) In middle school: JOHN TRAVOLTA from Grease. In high school and through my 20′s it was ROBERT PLANT from Led Zeppelin (YEAH I KNOW! WHAT WAS I THINKING! LOL! That was my wildchild faze for sure! No one could belt out those lyrics like Robert Plant)… Today however, it’s DEREK MORGAN (Shemar Moore) from Criminal Minds. Ahhhhhhh. Yup. Very nice to look at indeed. :)

GOOD POST DANIEL! Took us down memory lane!

  21. Uncle Jesse from Full House. Nothin’ like a good guy who’s rough around the edges!

Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. Need I elaborate?

Zac Efron as Link Larkin in Hairspray. (I realize as a 24-year-old woman, this might not be acceptable. But in real life, he IS my age!)

Jack Black as Miles in the Holiday. Is that weird? He was hilarious AND sweet.

  22. Laura Petrie, of course. Cute as could be. Audrey Hepburn too, so long as we’re back in the day.
Singers? Amy Grant had it going on for me (ok, still kinda does – sorry Vince);).

  23. My celeb crushes:

Heath Ledger–he had me from 10 Things I Hate About You and A Knight’s Tale. NO one will ever top that sexy grin of his. RIP

Wentworth Miller–he starred in the hit series Prison Break. His personality on that show was just so strong and sexy but yet very sweet.

Channing Tatum–well, he’s just hot. Every inch of him. lol

Ok, everyone’s gonna go thinkin’ I’m all lesbian but I have a serious girl crush on Ellen Degeneres. She’s absolutely hysterical and very endearing.

    ok, that’s all. =)

    • Yeah, so about this Ellen thing… do we need to have a talk? ;-)

      • You gotta admit she’s hysterical. She also has very similar appearance and mannerisms as my sister. . . might explain the “endearing” part. I’ve got no defense other than that! haha Hey, men are allowed to have their “man crushes” so I think it’s about time that we girls come out with our “girl crushes.”

  24. My long time crush was David Brinkley… I just loved to hear him on Sunday mornings gently skewering a politican… Very sad when he died:(
The don’t make newsmen like Brinkley anymore. Such a gentleman;)

My living crush is David Tennent’s Dr.Who… Just love the doctor!;)

  25. My first celeb crush was Stacy Dash. She was Alicia Silverstone’s friend in “Clueless.”

Nia Long in her “fresh prince of bel air” days.

Vanessa Marcil aka “Sam” on Vegas. Quite fetching and quick wited despite her brief marriage to Corey Feldman

DM your list and everyone else’s responses have been so amusing…thanks! This will reveal my age, but Paul McCartney…I used up all my hard earned babysitting $ to see Hard Days Night 5 times in a row :) oh, and Dr. Kildare (Richard Chamberlain) ahhh, The ThornBirds :) thanks for the walk down mamory lane!

  27. Michael Landon – Little house on The Prairie. I was so drawn to his integrity, the love of his family, work ethic. It was a “daddy” crush. The kind little girls have for their dad. Now him in Bananza
as “lil Joe”, that was a real crush.

John Wayne- I love real cowboys.

Michael Jackson – We grew up together. Most of my friends were crushin on Donnie Osmond But it was Michael all the way for me.
    “Rockin Robin, tweet tweet” LOL

Val Kilmer- Tombstone “I’ll be your huckleberry”

    Johnny Depp – Jack Sparrow

I don’t know if you can have a crush when you are married but Tim McGraw sure knows how to wear a cowboy hat.

  28. Oh how could I have forgotten Kevin Costner – Robinhood, Dances With Wolves, Open Range.

Bear Grylls- Man VS Wild A real manly man. The kind of man if you were lost anywhere in the outdoors you would want him around.

  29. Simon Baker (The Mentalist) I’m a sucker for accents and brains (even if they’re scripted).

Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights *tv* & Gambit from X-Men Origins- Wolverine) His role on FNL is the troubled athlete from a broken home who wants nothing more than to love and be loved…swoon…add southern accent…swoon x2.

  30. danny donny joe john and jordan :)

The one & only Mr Russell Crowe! Talented, tough and tender-hearted. Just look at the pictures of him with his little boys.

  32. Stefanie Magura Jun 30, 2010 at 10:07 pm

Let’s see…my first was the Beatles…and I do mean all of them as young men. Lol. Then I later had crushes on Tim McGraw–I seriously wanted to be Faith Hillat that time..lol. Later, it was on the guys from N’Sync–Jc Chasez started out as my favorite and then Justin. I also had a huge crush on a young Robert Plant and Jimi Hendricks among others during my teenage years.

I don’t seem to crush on movie stars, unless they’re of the classic variety…hahaha. I seriously crushed on Gregory Peck when I was fourteen and saw him as Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, and yes, I’m aware that he was in his forties at the time of the movie, and in his eighties in 2003 when I saw it. Others in a similar vein include James Stewart, young James Cagney–this one’s harder to explain–, and Humphrey Bogart. I’ve had lots…lol.

  33. I was going to say Don Johnson from Miami Vice and Richard Dean Anderson from MacGyver were my celebrity crushes…but when I started to think about why, I realized I like their rides in the show! I love MacGyver’s Wrangler and Sonny Crockett’s Ferrarris…

And I’m with Brandy on Val Kilmer’s Iceman and Saint. When she mentioned “blind” I thought of Rutger Hauer(forgot the movie where he played a blind guy with a sword in his walking stick), specially in Lady Hawke. Which also starred another crush, Matthew Broderick.

Right now, I’m still hung up on Jack Bauer. My heart breaks that he has to leave his family again. I hope they get together again for keeps in the movie.
